Wandering the Miramichi (XXV)
OK so these are almost three months over-due. My bad.
Sunday, August 6
We wake up bright and early and try to take pics into our hotel room. Clearly that worked. Through the window, our room looked like it was in sepia. SO weird.
We walked towards French Fort Cove and found a trail on the other side of the road, so we wandered over.
No way! Bellvèdre!
rocks
The Mighty Miramichi.
Alix's mismatched shoes.
Then we walked back up and up to the French Fort Cove (they really have everything on Wikipedia)...we wondered whether the lepers and ghosts wander around there regularly.
It's rather pleasant..except for the killer ducks. dun dun dun..
Mushroom!
Nature!
It was right about now that we ran into the crazy dog running around. It got near us but lost interest or something...it was on its own and we never saw its owner walk by after it.
We found a floating dock with a mushroom!
Moss!
Alix + Moss.
When we finished the trail, without ever having seen the headless nun or lepers, there were a bunch of bikers hanging out when that dog showed up again. They didn't know what to do about it. We gave it some water and then headed back over to the motel and then to the bus station. Their bus station was quite nice for such a small place...they even had a watercooler!
We got on the bus and headed towards...
yay!!
We walked around main street for a while before finally asking where we could find something to eat. "Have you ever been to Campbellton?" "uhh not really." We really didn't want to admit that this was in fact our third visit. Anyway, eventually someone pointed us to the pizza delight, a reasonable family restaurant that was mighty good.
With more time to kill, we stopped in at a local ice cream parlour and got ourselves some ice cream and headed to the water.
Wait did I say we got ice cream? We got..
Razzles!
The Bridge to Quebec!
There is something to Campbellton though, I have to say.
Appalaichans, the past, Miguiasha.
We kept walking towards the edge of town and found this train...I promptly hopped in.
and made an ass of myself.
Through the window of the train car.
Conductor's view.
All aboard!
Conductors bailing! (and yes I always dress like that)
Dedicated for roomie J and her summer employment.
We then wandered through a few booths by the playground and found nothing interesting, so we headed back to..
PikQuik/Dinky Bar
We took some photos. That door actually opened.
Across the street from the PikQuik.
Parkinglots + boredum.
Alix intently checking the time.
Then I took the opportunity to FINALLY draw a face on my mug.
CAUTION the following is intended for mature audiences.
My mug then met up with Alix's mug and they seemed to be getting along, when...
They suddenly started making out...We had to hose them off before they'd stop.
And that concludes our tour of the Miramchi...join us next week when we go HOME!
